Yeah which is my point. Why are we the tax payers put out so idiot boy can drive down the same hiway i am on??? Like i said put him in a car designed by ted striker out in the hood and nobody would have a clue the old man was in that car.. Its the 12 limos and the motorcade that gives him away no?
When you find yourself arguing with an idiot, you might want to rethink who the idiot really is. "It can't rain all the time"-Eric Draven

Less than ten years ago some crazy person with a knife managed to slip into the prime minister's residence. Who stopped him from killing the leader of a G7 nation? The prime minister's wife. At the bedroom door. Why didn't the prime minister stop the crazy man himself? Because he saves his strength to strangle protestors.

And then they put up gates and put RCMP on the property round the clock.
The Yanks have actually had a couple leaders knocked off. Want to see what would happen up here if the same conditions prevailed?

Compare that with thousands of man-hours every day expended in protecting the POTUS. With crazy **** like inconveniencing thousands of people at a time because the Prez wants to take a little road trip. They've had 4 successful attempts in 230 years. Only one in the last 100. They've gone overboard.
They follow up every crackpot who writes a letter even vaguely threatening the Prez. Can you imagine how much work that is? Can you imagine the security budget for him? It's not going to even close to compare to ours. Not going to compare to a hundred times ours. Maybe a thousand times.

JFK, RFK, MLK, Malcom X, attempts on Ford and Reagan...
Maybe they have a reason?
The last time Canada saw political violence on any sort of scale as the Yanks have, the army was called out and an entire province 'occupied'.

RFK was a candidate. MLK and Malcolm X were victims of violence in a political system where violence has too often been an answer.
But yes, scorn on the Yanks for not wanting to repeat the burial of JFK is entirely understandable, from a citizen of a province where civil liberties were stripped, the army moved in, and 1000's detained without charge after an ambassador got topped.

It's funny you mention that, since AFAIK I'm the only one here who's still pissed about that, the only one here who has gotten his ass of his chair and protested against the RCMP's actions during the APEC summit and the only one here who would stand up for civil liverties were a similar situation to arise today.
I fail to see my inconsistency. We stepped well over the line on a number of occasions. But we've drawn back from it. Security fears down there are a beast which refuses to die, no matter how much time passes.
