      Oooh a flaying!!!!!11!1

This thread is deeply disappointing. First you start with the flaying and the herf and the DoHS reporting.

        Oerdin,
        1) Follow JohnT's advice. I was a bank teller a while back, and that's exactly what i'd suggest, if not a bit more thorough
        2) No national bank i've ever heard of charges overdraft fees for monies drawn against a deposited-but-not-cleared check. They either refuse to give the money (in a request-for-funds case, like taking money from an ATM or such) or allow the money to go out if it's a check or similar (as they can 'delay' the check anyway).

I couldn't find WaMu's funds availability policy online - which in itself is very suspicious, as most other major banks have theirs online.

Finally, go start an account on www.usaa.com ... They're wonderful to me, and i'm not even an ex-army type. $1.50 back for every ATM fee you're charged (up to 10 a month) ... 1% back every time you use your debit card as a credit card ... only problem is they don't have actual branches so you have to mail in your deposits (or get Direct Deposit )

Get yourself to a Credit Union, they tend to be good to fantastic with customer relations. I've never had a problem in the 17 years or so since I've been using a Credit Union rather than a bank.

The very reading of this thread makes me blood boil - I absolutely hate banks, they are the vilest c**ts on this planet...I had a 20-minute bawling on the phone the other week for going over my limit yet it was in the middle of a working day when the transaction could have been declined, and it was for the sake of £3 they tried to charge me £25. When the realised I wasn't getting off the phone, they refunded the money as I was wasting more of their time than the charge was worth (by that point I was speaking to a manager )

I use Bank of America, and I pretty much don't have any problems.

I thought you just posted a thing on how they bounced a few of your checks not to long ago before you started working where you are at. My experience with themis they are a big rip off. I used them for a month and every time i had a direct deposit they told me my check was to be held for a week to make sure it clears the other bank that issued it. not to mention that i was charged a monthly acount fee and a maintence fee on top of that. That lasted a complete month and a half before i told them to get lost. And that was just for a savings account.

                    national banks

What's the point? High maintenance costs. The threat of having your identity stolen.

Credit Unions . Yeah I don't have lots of outlets like BOA (which operates out of many food supermarkets in Vegas). But it's not that much of an incvenience. As I never actually go to the bank. I use the ATM for all my transactions (or banking by phone)

Naw, we're just trying to get Oerdin's money back w/o any reprecussions to his credit rating.

Oerdin being a veteran should qualify for USAA. So far they're the only insurance company that I know of that pay their clients dividends

I think in the uk we have maybe the worst banks in the world, not to say the usa ones are much better from the sounds of it.
As an example the government had to intervene to stop the practise of evey bank charging you for using another banks ATM's.

Banks suck - which is why i dont give them all my money, and prefer to bury it in the garden/invest in something other than my useless bank managers new pay rise

banks being a-holes If they mess me around i just close my account and move to another one.
