Is Darth Vader still a cool villain after Ep III?

I thought the transition from Annablah to DV was rather stupid, and in the short scenes when he appeared later as "finished" Vader it was more like "hm, just a movie bad guy, but nothing special".

Do we still count DV as the ultimate movie villain now?

I havent seen EpisodeIII, only half of EpisodeI and bits+pieces of EpisodeII - So for me DV is still the(unspoilt) bad man I cant even tell you the actors name who played anakin in the new movies - ignorance can be bliss

All this new star wars stuff must have been so dissapointing

Personally, I belive EPIII only started Anakin Skywalker's decline towards the Dark Side, which he never actually finished, before his death. Killing "younglings" is nothing, Anakin did everything he did in EPIII, because he is a whiney *****. From "noooooooo!" onwards, he cared less and less of the lives he took, becoming the cool villain Darth Vader is.

No. I have it on VHS. Unfortunately for me, my copy of Episode V has major issues for the first 15-20 minutes of the movie, after which it settles down.

They're the spruced-up ones with the bull**** change to the Greedo-Han encounter and other additions (Jabba, additions to the Cloud City...). I'd rather have totally original ones, actually. Too bad, so sad. I hardly ever watch 'em anymore, anyway.

Sophie, Laura, my brother and myself were walking into the mall where ESB was playing on some TV in Sears. I pointed to it and said "Sophie, that used to be one of the all-time great movie villains... now he's just an easily-manipulated brat with Mommy issues."

I knew that if Imran were with me, he'd agree.

I think it's time to admit, Star Wars was only cool because you were a kid when you first watched it.

I'd probably feel episodes 4 through 6 were silly if I watched them for the first time today.

Star Wars was never high quality cinema.

As a kid Darth Vader was just damn cool. Easily my most favourite character. The only other character that could come close is Han Solo. All the other characters sucked.

I'll partially disagree. The only one I remember seeing as a kid was RotJ. My next real exposure to them was in college. And it was THEN that I really enjoyed them.

Are they serious drama? Of course not! But they're entertaining as hell. Methinks the awful, hideous, stinking pile of trash that is Episodes I-III may have colored your opinion of the original trilogy.

No, I actually like the prequals. I just realize the original trilogy where cheesy as all Hell. I mean they are like the Mummy trilogy (fun stuff as well), but we've already seen special effects like that, so it's not uber cool like Star Wars was, and The Mummy isn't about space (space is cool ).
