Season 2 of Deadwood is when the writing REALLY shines. Leading some uber-fanboys to refer to it as "Shakespearian". Now I won't go that far, but it's very, very good. It was robbed at the Emmy's.

Speaking of "Arrested Development", there have been reports of VERY strong interest by ABC and Showtime in the show if Fox makes it official that it is canceling the show. Probably best if it is on ABC (as long as they don't make them cut out some of the jokes), but if Showtime gets it, I may have to upgrade my cable package.

I'm not sure I understand how ABC (or showtime) could pick up a show from another network, without paying a (huge?) fee for the IP. Otherwise, it's just stealing their ideas, isn't it?

(Or would there indeed be a fee involved, and it's just assumed?)

If Fox cancels the show, its fair game. They aren't stealing the ideas, they are just hiring the fired employees. Fox didn't create the show, it merely bought a few seasons' worth of episodes from the guys who did.
