    So probably not.
Christianity comes in the beginning from Judaism. And the founders were well versed in Christianity and theology. The ideology of the United States could never have come from Islam or Eastern religions, no matter what revisionism people (like you) come up with now.

The ideology came from the enlightenment and analysis of political and economic systems from ancient Greece to the Iroquois, not organised religion (or the Bible).

We're a nation where many people call themselves Christians... but these people don't follow the teachings of Christ... nor do hardly any of our laws or social and economic policies reflect the values of Jesus Christ.

So no... we are not a Christian nation (or a Jewish one).

Nor was our country founded on Judeo-Christian principles.

Berz is pretty spot on with his analysis.

The only Commandments that are laws are the 6th (killing) and the 8th (stealing). The 9th (false witness) is only illegal if you commit perjury in a court of law.

So 70% of the Ten Commandments are not laws. I don't see how anyone can say they are the foundation for our laws.

Not killing, not stealing, and not lying under oath are pretty basic things that we would have figured out anyways.
To us, it is the BEAST.

If we're a nation based on Christian morals, it's time for many of these professed Christians to start following their morality.

As it stands now, they're frauds, just like very single bastard sitting in a chair in Washington DC.

It's funny that you're the only one to come up with this assinine idea.

The governing principles of the US were born of the Enlightenment and of the Greco-Roman tradition.

Democracy is not a "Christian" or "Jewish" concept. And the US is first and foremost that- it is, quite simply, our civic religion, which supercedes all other religions.

even the word "Messiah" means king of the jews. thats why the Romans got involved, they outlawed the jewish monarchy. however, jesus wasn't going to be like the other messiahs and kings of the jews, his was a spiritual message.
and the implication of his teachings is freedom or free will, the message was to spread and people decide for themselves (not without warnings of an afterlife punishment though for choosing wrong). his was a libertarian message

John Kasich is a Radiohead fan so he can't be all bad

That still doesn't mean he should be elected as a president because the US would install trade blockades and conduct surgical strikes over issues of "OK Computer or Kid A" and such

And if you check the reading matter of Jefferson and his contemporaries, they were also well versed in the ancient history and civics and culture of pagan Greece and Rome too (and Jefferson was keenly interested in proving the pagan origins of Anglo-Saxon Common Law), and one of the first allies of the United States was a Muslim country- Morocco.

I've even visited the very pleasant U.S. Consulate in Tangiers, which as well as being a working diplomatic outpost, is also a museum dedicated to the avowedly secular non-sectarian relationships in American politics, which can also be seen to good effect in the Treaty of Tripoli.

By Mr. President's logic, Marxism comes from Christianity, so they should be alright with it.

After having his corpse spin like a dynamo in his grave over decades of corruption of his ideals since his death, it was at that moment that Karl Marx's decomposed head finally exploded.

Morocco was one of the first countries to recognize the US. If it actually rendered any assistance or acted in any other way as an ally, Ive never heard of it and would be interested to see some references.

Marxism is, IMHO, very much an heir to the Judeo-Christian tradition. I dont know why that would come as a surprise to anyone.

The founders were well versed in Christianity and Judaism, AND Greco-Roman paganism, and Enlightenment philosophy, AND english Common law. All in all a very erudite bunch. And their POVs were diverse. Franklin being, IIUC, very much a free thinker (atheist?) after the enlightenment fashion, Jefferson being an enlightement deist who respected only the ethics of Christianity (and who wrote his own "bible" selecting only the ethical statements from the NT) John Adams was a Unitarian with a deep respect for his own Puritan roots and for the Jews, and Washington, Sam Adams and Patrick Henry were (IIUC) all trinitarian Christians.

I think if they were here today Adams would be defending the Puritan and biblical contributions to the revolutions ideals, while Jefferson and Franklin would be more skeptical. Though I suspect Adams, the diplomat, would be reluctant to share Kasichs statement on the same prudential grounds that Berserker raises, and Washington similarly. Perhaps Sam Adams or Henry would be willing to defend it. All in all I think they would have a very good and interesting argument.
