          • a seldjuk (I think, perhaps ilkhanid) tomb in Erzurum
            Erzurum was once called Karin and was an armenian city. It was also known as theodosiopolis. Names Erzurum comes from Arabic Ard ar-Rum, which means "Ground (land) of the Romans" Byzantines, that is.

                • Hasankale castle in pesinler next to Erzurum. It was built by ilkhan Hasan, who, I believe, was the first muslim ilkhan.

                  • morning in Diyarbakir, the ancient Amida, one of Roman strongholds over Persian boarder. it claims that its city walls are the longest preserved after China's Wall.

                    • I pretty much liked Erzurum. All the monuments are on a one long road, the city is tidy, and there are nice fountains, including the ones on the roundabouts.
