    I think Gionta's production will go down now that Elias has returned to the Devils.

    I think Iginla's production has nowhere to go but up.

      Yes, usually, when a point producer comes back from injury (who is your linemate), your stats go down.

      especially when your centerman is on fire (Gomez 6G 7A last 5 games)

      To us, it is the BEAST.

        In a 5 goal win, Gionta had 1 assist in it. It seems his linemates, Gomez and Elias, who were on fire, left him off the scoreboard.

        That line will not stay intact, one-line teams are easy to dismantle once people realize they're one-line teams. Look at Ottawa.

        Gionta doesn't appear to be in the main powerplay unit anymore, either.

          oh yes, he only had 1 measely assist... and he was also +2... not to mention he has 5 points the last 3 games... and you don't necessarily need to get points to contribute to a goal.

          Uhmmm... 2/3rd's of that top line (Spezza and Alfredsson) are hurting.

          Last game the Devils had one power play. And according to the shift chart, Gionta was out there with Gomez, Langenbrunner, Elias, and Rafalski.

          Stop trying to justify a dumbass trade.

          It's nice you got your home town guy, but you traded away a guy who is playing on a line that is red hot right now.

              Asher you let your emotions make a trade - always a bad move. Unless Iginla miraculously turns things around, Gionta will out produce him.

                He will, he always turns it up in the last half of the season. I think Gionta has been performing above expectations, and I don't expect it to last.

                I don't need to be an offensive powerhouse for a couple weeks (EmpFab this week, Ben next), so a red hot line right now isn't a concern to me.

                Edit: Not to mention that Sutter is still actively finding a playmaking center for Iginla.

                  And they also lost to lowly Boston with both of them out. That's my point.

                  When they toured the NW division, all 3 Canadian teams shut down that one line (when they weren't hurting), and Ottawa lost all those games, too.

                    Woot.

                    3 of Calgary's injured are due to come back for tonight's game against Toronto...Rhett Warrener (bulldozer), Stephane Yelle (shot blocker extraordinaire, faceoff man), and Tony Amonte (scorer).

                    Marcus Nilson is questionable, Roman Hamrlik is sidelined indefinitely.

                      Has anyone else heard much of the rumours that Brent Sutter is going to coach the Flames next season?

                      Darryl Sutter has said repeatedly he doesn't like being both GM and Coach of the Flames, so he's looking for somebody reliable and trustworthy to continue as coach while he works as a GM (focusing on scouting and our prospects).

                        The Sutter brothers controling one team? Sounds like a good idea. Also sounds like it would have a very good defence.
