Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Jaroslav Spacek has been suspended for two games, without pay, as a result of a clipping incident in Monday night's game against the Calgary Flames.
Spacek was assessed a minor penalty for clipping against Flames player Byron Ritchie early in the third period of Chicago's 3-2 loss. As Ritchie sped into the Chicago zone with the puck, Spacek stepped on the ice from the players bench and dove across and cut the legs out from under him.
Ritchie tumbled to the ice and had to be helped off the ice favouring a knee while Spacek received a minor penalty.
The suspension will cost Spacek $22,959.18 in salary.
Spacek will be able to rejoin the Blackhawks January 8th against Nashville.

I still don't understand why the Hawks didn't re-sign Berard
instead we get that bum
not that Spacek has been bad this season, but still, the Hawks need offense, and Berard would have re-signed... he wanted to play here... but instead he goes to Columbus
I didn't even watch that game... the Hawks suck.
I'm only watching games that matter to me (games where my fantasy hockey players are playing)... or other games that have GOOD teams playing...
as a last resort I might watch the Hawks...
but that's only if that is an AWAY game because even with the NHL Center Ice package, I still can't watch the Home games
It's kinda funny, and a bit confusing, to listen to Flames play by play now.

In 1999, Regehr had to overcome personal tragedy in a deadly automobile accident. On July 4, near his hometown of Rosthern, Saskatchewan, another car hit Regehr's Chevy Nova head-on. Two people in the other car died, and both of Regehr's tibias were fractured. Regehr put himself through a strict rehabilitation program and ended up playing 57 games in the 1999-2000 season.
Regehr's strong performance in the 2004 season and in the playoffs netted the young defender international play with Team Canada, where he was part of the team which won the 2004 World Cup of Hockey. He was also selected to play for Team Canada at the 2006 Olympics.
Regehr grew up in Brazil and Indonesia where his parents were Mennonite missionaries. He has lived in Canada for the past 15 years.
Robyn's brother Richie also plays for the Flames.
