  • Poor Canada, no one respects their borders.

If you don't like it, declare war on us.

I love this quote. I think it's funny as hell.

You sure as hell respected our borders in 1812.

      How pathetic.

We aren't using the territory at all, despite it being quite lucrative, and we are relying on the goodwill of other nations to keep out of it.

Yeah, American good will always prevails over their desire for oil. ALWAYS.

The US can't even beat piss-poor third world countries, you think they stand a chance against mighty Canada?

We won that war. Did you not see the mission accomplished sign on the superstructure of that aircraft carrier?

Must have missed that bit of 1812.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

Canada (really England) is not a piss-poor third world country.

In any case, Canada is too busy watching hockey to defend their borders. They have no chance. Just be lucky big brother is here to defend your nation.

                    Two separate issues here

                    1. A US submarine could probably sail within 3 miles of any coast in the world without being detected if it avoided major military installations. I don't see how this impacts soverignty one little bit. Even if Canada were completely active up north, it is doubtful they would spot such a vessel.

                    2. The lack of Canadian activity is short-sighted but Canada has exercised jurisdiction with the local native populations and part from a right of passage issue with respect to the waters, I don't think anyone else in trhe world is trying to assert any jurisdiction. So Canada probably keeps its north by default and then would have an international law issue with respect to soveignty ofover the waters

Just curious but who exactly would want to attack us??

And if such countries exist do they have the naval power and heavy airlift capability to succeed? Quite frankly we are a long way from anywhere but the U.S. so even unopposed an invasion of Canada is beyond most countries

Even hitting other submarines (for sake of argument lets call it Kursk) wouldn't give away its presence.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

Is this about the northwest passage? As I recall the northwest passage is currently in dispute. The US and several other countries claim it is an international water way while Canada claims it exclusively owns it. Seeings how this has been in dispute for well over a century and the US has periodically sent ships through there in order to reenforce the claim that it is not exclusively Canadian I don't see anything new.
