Saw a similar case on TLC recently. Southeast Asian kid who had practically the same growth removed by doctors in Japan. The whole thing was paid for by a Japanese guy.
In his case the doctor said that it was actually tooth material that was growing out of control. It had already pushed on one of his eyes enough to damage it permanently IIRC and they just saved his other eye with the operations. What?

ugh, I really hate looking at those types of pictures.
But in a sick sadistic way at least they relieve me of feeling like I'm the ugliest person in the world. I know that's a selfish thought.
Here's hoping medical science can fix that. It's kind of sad the human body malfunctions in these ways. But it happens.

Good God. Thankfully they operated on her before her vision was damaged or lost. Here's to hoping she pulls through with flying colors.

There was a special on The Learning Channel or Discovery called "Face Eating Tumor", about a young boy, about 6 or 7, who had a similar tumor, and it chronicled the surgeries that removed the tumor and reconstructed his face. Horrifying and fascinating.
