I'd also like to see the figures you got that claim from since it likely includes disaster relief money (I.E. post disaster repairs and what not).
    No, It doesn't.

In Katrina's wake, Louisiana politicians and other critics have complained about paltry funding for the Army Corps in general and Louisiana projects in particular. But over the five years of President Bush's administration, Louisiana has received far more money for Corps civil works projects than any other state, about $1.9 billion; California was a distant second with less than $1.4 billion, even though its population is more than seven times as large.

Much of that Louisiana money was spent to try to keep low-lying New Orleans dry. But hundreds of millions of dollars have gone to unrelated water projects demanded by the state's congressional delegation...

That was the modified (read: defunded) levee upgrades not the original one which included even stronger upgrades and, critically, restoration of eroded wetlands and coastal barrier islands to help weaken and redirect waves.

        I call BS.
The Corps had been studying the possibility of upgrading the New Orleans levees for a higher level of protection before Katrina hit, but Woodley said that study would not have been finished for years.

Strock has also said that the marsh-restoration project would not have done much to diminish Katrina's storm surge, which passed east of the coastal wetlands.

It's a shame that New Orleans is being left for the archeologists. Which American city is next? Phoenix, maybe?

There is plenty of blame to go around here. I loathe Bush, but a good part of this (perhaps most of it) is on the local officials. They pretty clearly suck.

Personally, though this may sound cold and impersonal, I don't really think rebuilding N.O. just as it was is a good idea.

Grunwald seems to have picked up a right wing bias in recent years which makes his take on events suspect. Google Michael Grunwald and you'll find a series of articles attacking Hillary Clinton during her election campaign in New York along with a bunch of anti-Kerry articles from last years election.

He's an interesting article about him.

Is this going to be a round where you completly ignore points that dispute your POV rather than even make a half-hearted attempt to refute them? If it is please let me know so I can get off now (If the reporter who wrote the article is such a right wing hack as you claim, it should be easy to find the inaccuracies in the piece rather than waving your arms wildly and claim that they are there).
