Man, I can't recall seeing such a litany of blinkered ignorance venting its spleen on this forum for a long time!
You dickheads haven't seen the movie despite the fact that most of the reviews are positive - your only possible excuse is that either you don't like monster movies, or you know the ending...
I think the best one is whoever said they're refusing to see this movie because they were disappointed by Titanic...
What a bunch of losers!
And no, I haven't seen the movie yet - but I'm not going to let my small-minded pre-conceived prejudices cloud my judgement over whether I'm going to see it or not...
And JohnT, as a connoisseur of his movies since about 89/90 I can categorically say you're talking out of your arse (as usual!) when it comes to Peter Jackson's movies - how many have you seen apart from LotR? Any apart from maybe the Frighteners? Do you know his background at all?
I suggest you educate yourself and get back to us when you're less ignorant on the subject...
Why did they bother with Jimmy? He didn't really play any part in the plot. Plucky/tragic kids named Jimmy are a cliche - in a film that's already got plenty to be working with.
Jack's escape plan from Kong's lair left a bit to be desired - climb off a three hundred foot overhang on a convenient three hundred foot vine? Why not just go back the way you came?
Sandman, don't you imagine a film originally filmed in the the 1930s was gonna be cheesy? Don't you think peter jackson did a wonderful job of trying to make it as authentic as possible.
Even though I wouldn't have cried a river if they'd edited jimmy out.

If it has Ray Harryhausen as the special effects man I may go see it. If not I guess I will play the 30's version again.
I just watched the 30s version again this weekend. Man, is it badly acted. And how the natives of Skull Island, located "Southwest of Sumatra," ended up being Africans is sure an interesting question. But it does rock, even if Fay Wray's rescue goes on way too long. 30s Kong!

I was sitting next to a black woman and all through the scene with the bronotsauruses they kept doing that finger-snap Ali G lame thing. And doing single claps. We should really have segregated movie theatres. Not white against black, but cool people i.e. me and lame people i.e. everyone I don't know.
But anyway, faux racism aside, it was a very good movie, although it's not like you'll come out of the cinema a better person for having seen it. And oh god the insectoid scene that was so creepy.
