Depends upon what you find more amusing. Goofy F/X laden flicks or self-important conspiracy thrillers that display a world none of us live in. Exhibit A: The Manchurian Candidate (2004). Exhibit B: Syriana.

      I like those conspiracy thrillers.

      I want to see Syriana.

Movies are supposed to be about worlds that we don't live in JohnT.
To us, it is the BEAST.

Syriana was OK ... a bit complex and twisted, though. Not surprising, considering its subject matter. And, frankly, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if there was a kernal of truth in there somewhere. After all, if we can *think* of it, it's been done IRL somewhere.

Besides, Dr. Bashir (Alexander Siddig, ST: DS9) is one of the folks in the movie. He gives a great performance as the reform-minded Prince Nasir.

Now, WRT to King Kong, all I can say is this: EVERY review I've read has done nothing but sing praise for this 3-hour film. It's incredibly *rare* to encounter something like that.

          more american pathetic SFX trash
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

When this happens, the movie is usually stupid.

This is the problem I have with this movie.

              1. King Kong itself... I just hate the story. It sucks. A big gorilla.

              2. Jack Black is in it. Even if he gets eaten, it still is not worth it.

              3. Everyone is playing up the LoTR hype. This is not LotR... stfu already.

              4. And like you said, all the reviews are saying it's awesome Usually when this happens, I don't like the movie. I don't know why. That's just how it is.

This movie is reminding me a lot of Titanic. It will probably be a huge box office success... like historic numbers... maybe not the best ever, but I bet it will be huge.

And I hate Titanic... worst ****ing movie ever.

                Dude! That is so harsh!

                Maybe he'll sing a song!

I think I may end up seeing this movie. All the reader (imdb) reviews are pretty positive as well. I'll wait till after Christmas probably.

I'm just afraid I'll be crying like a litle girl at the end. . The Last Samuraii pretty much had me in tears. A couple other movies come close to doing it as well.

Come on. Didn't you even like the part in the end where Kate Winslet is on a raft big enough for two people, but Leonardo DiCaprio stays in the water and freezes to death??

                            King Kong:

"To make sure that the audience was aware just how modern this update is, Jackson makes you feel as if you had your head stuck in a jet engine... for 180 minutes!. Seriously, I'm ****ing deaf and deeply fatigued. What a cacophony."

"In the final summary, King Kong is fine, but nothing more. Unless we are talking sheer volume; there it reins supreme."

                            =====
Anyway I'm going to see the movie.

Many reviewer said the movie was good for anyone who want to see a good fantastic/epic/entertainer movie.

If I want to see a good arty movie, I'll wait for The New World by Terrence Mallick!

Malick has another film coming out?!

                              /me runs off to imdb

                              edit: Holy crap!
A movie about John Smith and Jamestown
with Colin Farrell in the lead role
and a 15-year-old actress playing Pocahantas?

I probably wouldn't see it if it weren't Malick, but I'll go.

You also got to see rather long shots of Kate Winslet nude.

Of course, the fact that she bares her tits in almost every movie she's in detracts from that, but still...
