  • Gee Atlanta has a supposedly solid defense, the NFL's #1 running attack, and an "All Pro" QB. How could they possibly miss the playoffs????

            • I don't know how you can make that claim based on todays game... They look like they are for real, but you can't judge Indy on today.

              • They're better than Indy's b-squad, anyway.

                • The Texans had a close game with the Jags up until very late. Luckily they pulled off a spectacular come from ahead loss to help solidify a shot at Reggie Bush.

I'm basing this on Indy's performance last week, also...

Plus, consider that Indy's defense has allowed lots of points against the Bengals (an offense that the Bears was able to contain, yardage wise) and Rams earlier this season... well, they might not be as good as everyone thinks.

I wouldn't be surprised if some other AFC team kicked Indy in the nuts in the playoffs. Perhaps the Colts lose in the AFC championship game? Or maybe in the first playoff game they play... who knows... all bets are off now.

Barring a comeback, it looks as if the Colts are going to be on a two game losing streak going into Arizona next week. Now if by some miracle the Cardinals beat them... well, that's it. Indy's toast.

The only way I will have confidence in the Colts going into the playoffs is if they come back next week and destroy Arizona. And I'm talking like by 20-30 points... at least. If they just manage to beat Arizona by 7 points or less, then I would bet Indy gets knocked off in the playoffs before the Super Bowl.

                    • Today and next week are just meaningless games. The Arizona matchup will feature the second string. They have no need to destroy Arizona... they just need to make it through the next week and avoid major injuries..

                        • It should also be said that the Colts are playing awfully vanilla (again) to end the season. I haven't seen a stretch play in 2 weeks, or many play-action passes.

Yeah, don't get your hopes up. The only reason Manning would start at all would be to keep his streak going. They'll probably still win, but either way it shouldn't be spactacular. Which is fine - the less momentum Indianapolis goes into the playoffs with the better.

                              • Everyone's talking about whether Favre will retire or not, but after Steve McNair's performance today in Miami (5 of 13 for 34 yds and 2 picks before being forced out in the 2nd Qtr with an injury) I'd say his days are definately numbered. A great QB and leader in his time, but he's just not the same man anymore and can't take that continual punishment like he has in the past.....
