Does it correct any vision problem?
    What?

Both my eyes have stabilized at -4.00 now, for the time being at least. But I have crappy vision no doubt about it, maybe you should consider contacts Dis. I used to wear them regularly but for the last months I've just been going with the glasses.
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

I looked into getting this done a couple of years ago. It's really no good for me (worse than -10.00 in both eyes so it's too much to be fully corrected).

A lot of the horror stories about things going wrong are from the early days of the technique and there has been a lot of improvement. However, if you are one of the unlucky minority who experience problems it can be really serious so think if it is that necessary.

Whether it is any good for you depends on what your problem is. Assuming it is simply short sightedness it will usually slowly get worse until you reach your late 30's and then level off.

Over $300 for glasses? When you are only just past the point of needing to wear them. That's a real rip-off. Even with my prescription I pay a bit less than that (and I have lightweight high index lenses in medium priced frames). I did pay that kind of money once but for that they sent the frames to the Zeiss factory in Germany to fit the lenses!

Consider contact lenses. I've used them for martial arts and rock climbing in the past as well as general use and they are great. Assuming you can get them into your eyes (some people have a real difficulty with this) you just forget about them whilst wearing them. The only drawback is that prolonged use can lead to problems. I've stopped wearing contacts because the lenses of my eyes weren't getting enough oxygen through the lenses so tiny blood vessels started growing into the lenses and obstructing my vision. This goes away if you stop wearing the lenses though.

A friend of mine got lasered recently, and he's quite happy with it. He's liberated himself from contact lenses and glasses.

The only reason I haven't done this is fear of the adverse result. I know that most people have a good result but there is apparently a not indignificant number that will find their vision worsened significantly after the surgery. I don't know if that chance can ever be eliminated.

Glasses are not that big of a deal. If someone is not getting laid, ITS NOT THE GLASSES!!!

I've heard night vision is often affected (for the worse).

I hate glasses. They're heavy, they leave marks on my nose and they're always dirty. I prefer my contacts.

From what I've heard, night vision is sometimes affected, not often affected.

If I understand you right, then your vision still change pretty rapidly. If it is so, then wait with the laser until it has stabilized. If you are annoyed by the glasses (300 $ on short time basis would annoy me), go for contact lenses - you get better view and free upgrade.

Laser doesn't solve your change of vision permanently, it just adjust your current vision problem, so you might end up having several treatments.

My vision does seem to still be deteriorating. Just not quickly. It's been 5 and 1/2 years since I last got glasses. So I figure I'm due.

i've done it and it was great. Don't get it done in Nevada though! and make sure you ask around. You want a doctor that will map your eye, and do a custom surgery, not just the standard op for your prescription. These guys are more expensive, but it is stupid to bargain shop surgery. Usually the good ones will guarentee 20/20 or it's free.
