I'm not having it both ways. I said rape was bad. My reason is you got guys in prison for minor offenses being raped.
But apparently you'd allow for the child molestor to be raped if there was a way of protecting the 'light drug offender'. That's the bit that fails to make sense.
All rapes are ghastly. Maybe for once those folks that didnt realize this before that rape is act of violence not sex. These guys in prison arent just doing this for the gratification of sexual pleasure its a domination and power deal. For the record, most convicted child molesters are not raped by a penis but rather sodmozied with what ever the other convicts can find to use. In research i have done with my sexual assualt group most other prisoners are sickened by the child molester and are out to hurt them they way they hurt their victim but will not use any of their own organs to do so. Now mind you i said most i didnt say all. At three prision facilities that i researched due to the prisoners being brought in to the hospital er the majority of the child molesters were violeted by foriegn objects. 3 out of 50 of them child molesters reported to have been forced to give a blow job. thats is a small number in comparison to regular inmates that have been forced to do oral sex. So in the end our research concluded with most inmates do not want to be touched or touch the child moslester with their own pensis.

Being dyslexic is hard work. I don't even try anymore.
I believe you meant to say, "highly scientific internet poll."
What's the difference ?
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
well, it is the single biggest deterrent keeping me from doing anything that would get me thrown in prison! I think it is cruel and unusual punishment. Prisons certainly don't make an effort to stop it, so even if only passively, they are endorsing it.
But, if it deters people from committing crimes, maybe it isn't all bad.

Took the time to check the difference :
idiotic
adj 1: insanely irresponsible; "an idiotic idea" [syn: crackbrained] 2: completely devoid of wisdom or good sense; "the absurd excuse that the dog ate his homework"; "that's a cockeyed idea"; "ask a nonsensical question and get a nonsensical answer"; "a contribution so small as to be laughable"; "it is ludicrous to call a cottage a mansion"; "a preposterous attempt to turn back the pages of history"; "her conceited assumption of universal interest in her rather dull children was ridiculous" [syn: absurd, cockeyed, derisory, laughable, ludicrous, nonsensical, preposterous, ridiculous] 3: having a mental age of three to seven years
moronic
adj : having a mental age of between eight and twelve years
Still thinks this poll falls into the "three to seven years age" range

Rape is horrible no matter what the circumstances. But I wonder how much of a "punishment" prison would be without the threat of rapes and assault. Granted the food sucks, and it's disgusting and unhygienic, but I could easily stand being locked up for 10 years (assuming I felt I had to do the thing that put me in prison to begin with) if I knew I wouldn't be raped or assaulted.
I don't know when incarceration became a punishment in and of itself, as opposed to the original purpose of a place to hold a criminal until he could be tried and punished (fine, death, humiliation, disfigurement). I don't know how much of a deterrent imprisonment it is now, but I'm sure it would be less of a deterrent if you knew you wouldn't be beaten or violated.
Of course, rape is till wrong. Even though some evil f*cks absolutely deserve it.
ranted the food sucks, and it's disgusting and unhygienic, but I could easily stand being locked up for 10 years (assuming I felt I had to do the thing that put me in prison to begin with) if I knew I wouldn't be raped or assaulted.
you have no idea.
and btw, I equate the gravity of rape to that of a hard physical assault. both are equally terrible.
rape of all kinds is a bad thing. And I don't even care if the person being raped is a child molestor. Prison is his punishment, not rape. Because for every child molestor being raped, there's a guy convicted of some light drug crime being raped.
Dis is right!

And just what information are you using to to make such an assumption?
Yes. And "bad" is certainly not even the right word to describe how wrong it is.
Sure, we might joke about prison rape sometimes, but it's a major problem.
Not only because people get victimized in prison, but because it allows violent criminals the opprotunity to continue to victimize more people despite being incarcerated.
Our prison system needs SERIOUS REFORM.
And part of this is we need to stop sending non-violent drug offenders to prison. Marijuana should be legal and treated like alcohol. Non-violent users of drugs guilty of possession should not be sent to prison. Small offenses should be de-criminalized... fines, etc... and repeat offenders should be sent to rehab programs... not prison.
This would help alleviate prison populations which would help the problem and allow for an easier time of reforming prisons.
This is just one of many problems that the War on Drugs is contributing to.
How many people get busted for minor non-violent drug offenses and then get sent to prison? These people are the ones that are most likely to get victimized.

It is my experience that the only people who get prison time for drug offenses are either dealers (Possesion with intent to Deliver) or repeat possesion offenders. Hell, I have yet to even see someone in my county get jail time for a possesion offense (maybe they get Huber). Most of the time the offenders are given some type of probation. Problem is that they then violate their probation (usually repeatedly) and they get their original 5 year probation (just a number I picked out of the air) revoked and get sent to prison until their probation is over. So they are NOT their because they smoked some weed, its because they continued to do things after the fact.
But this is a prison rape thread, not a war on drugs thread.
