you probably wouldn't recognise the place - Itaewon is getting gentrified and the girlie bars are dying quite quickly it seems - mainly because of restrictions on uS personnel visiting them - they even had a curfew in force - 9pm - applied to contractors as well

      God Bless the religious right

You must be going by the old places Horsie, when I was there during the first days of 'Operation Bomb Iraq" or whatever there were tonnes of soldiers violating their 7 PM curfew (yeah they had a 7 pm curfew for a several month period during the '9/11' craziness), there were bouncers and mps all working together to round them up each night.

can you imagine imposing a 7pm and no sex curfew on off duty soldiers?

I swear the Bush Administration is crazier than a bagful of cats.

The no sex rule got flaunted and there really wasn't much they could do about it unless they caught you red handed. Even then most officers and NCOs had no respect for the rule and would look the other way if they could. Simply stupidity.

It's all part of the modern military's "blame someone else" game. CO's want to get promoted but there is a one strike and you don't get promoted rule (they call it "zero defects") and the whole thing has become grossly political. Thus COs have started making comprehensive and utterly unreasonable standing orders which pretty much makes every thing illegal then all the soldiers just ignore the standing order. Basically these are just catch all orders designed to make sure that no matter what happened you'd broken a rule some where so the CO can avoid responsibility and say "I told them they had to be home by 7pm, couldn't drink, and could be with in 20 feet of a female so obviously he broke my orders and it isn't my fault".

Personally, I would hound this butt covering do nothings out of the service. They do nothing valuable and only foster disrespect for the chain of command with their craven ass covering tactics.

It probably also doesn't help the 8th Army's attempts to faternise and get laid that their departing 4 star, General LaPorte, is a devout catholic.

But I don't think LaPorte got up the ranks by butt kissing. He was a fine combat soldier, with the medals to prove it, and a very impressive man.

That happened in the company I work for now. A few years ago someone was caught, um... , red handed surfing porn on the internet by his own boss and got fired. I guess he forgot our network had lots of tracking and auditing.
