Best to maximize profits as much as possible then, right?

People who want the console for XMAS shopping season will pay $1,000 for it. That goes a long way to cutting MS's costs.

No, MS is not raising MSRP to $1,000, they are more clever, they are forcing the stores to raise the price for them.

I'm going to wait until the 360 hits 299$ for the HD "de luxe" system

Looks to be next Christmas until I can play PD0, that means.

This happens with any good console's launch, where demand is higher than supply. The only recent console that didn't sell out at launch that I can recall is the Gamecube, and the reasons for that should be obvious.

The PS2 had similar shortages and bundling and selling when it debuted, too. The PS3 will when it debuts.

            Damn straight.

Same reason I don't complain about sports ticket prices, or rock concert scalpers.

It's all about the market setting the value.

You believe in the market, right?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Everyone rips you off blind , why should MS be any different? Nice.

Err...it's supply/demand buddy, it's not ripping you off. You buy for the price you feel is acceptable, you don't have to have a console the day it comes out.

You post a trolly/flamey thread at MS because there aren't enough Xbox 360's to satisfy demand on launch day, but then I don't see you praising them for eating the $160 loss per console either. You still accuse them of ripping you off, even though they're losing money. That's the classy part.

When MS artificially reduces supply (while maintaining plenty of controllers to bundle), they effectively make Holiday Xbox 360s cost MORE THAN THEY HAVE TO. THAT IS NOT CLASSY.

Where the hell do you get this artifically reduces supply BS? Why the hell would they NOT put as many consoles into people's hands before the PS3 launches? They're making them as fast as they can, but it's not like you can have just a CD factory pressing these rapidfire...there's a lot more that goes into making a console in a factory and getting them to North America.

You can't expect me to believe that MS just does not know how to launch products, especially in holiday season. If they can't make them in time, they started too late, and they knew it.

Why don't you blame the Jews? Clearly they are buying them all up.

If you think you can distract me you are wrong Glonky, I say that condescendingly.

Once the lid is blown we are going to see heads at MS roll and XBox 360 fall like a house of cards.
