Online shopping for Video Games from a great selection of Faceplates, Protectors & Skins, Controllers, Cables & Adapters, Cases & Storage, Video Game Accessories & more at everyday low prices.

MS has artifically cut supplies for Xbox this holiday season to raise demand ; people who want the console now are forced to put accessories in bizarre bundles, dramatically raising the price of the system.

Those who want a system must also want a faceplate and some specific programs/games it seems.

How the hell does cutting supply raise demand?

Supply is low because MS is launching in all 3 major territories within weeks of eachother. Sony's launches are all months apart.

Because of this, many retailers are bundling the system with other accessories to take advantage of demand outstripping supply and make some more money.

MS themselves would make more money if they could get as much out as fast as possible, because more consoles = more games = more accessories...

For what it's worth I have an Xbox 360 in my living room, and I paid standard price for it.

Oh bull****, they are getting an ultimate premium for the holiday season. People who *need* their consoles will pay five times what a normal customer will -- normal customers who will pay up in early 2006 anyway.

I have a hard time believing Microsoft can royally screw up a launch like this on accident, especially if it benefits them.

The retailers are the one profiting from this -- MS doesn't make any more money from bundles. The bundles all vary from retailer to retailer which is a BIG HINT that it is the retailer's decision to bundle, not MS'.

Why would the retailer sell $399 worth of merchandise when they would sell just as fast as a $699 bundle with other products? Retailers are marking it up to reflect the demand, it's no different than the guys who sell consoles on ebay.

Apparently Wiglaf can't simply sit out the crappy launch and simply wait for his store to get a 360 in stock. It would have saved us yet another troll thread if he could.

MS could forsee that the bundles would need to be made, because they made more controllers and developers made more games than they have consoles available....what the hell else will these stores do?

The bundles are done by stores, not Microsoft.

If Microsoft priced the console at $699 for launch and then lowered it to $399 after Christmas, you would have a case...but as it is now you're witnessing retailers taking advantage of high demand and low supply.

If MS makes 10,000 controllers are 1,000 systems, it is logical to assume stores will start bundling the extra controllers to the systems and jack up the price, resulting in a premium holiday profit for Microsoft.

(psst, MS loses well over $100 per Xbox 360 sold at $399, their Xbox division is predicted to lose a lot of money over the holidays)

                              Who *needs* any new console?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
