Does it fix the ****ing bookmark-eating bug?

It minimizes it in that the new versions automatically back up the bookmark file's regularly and they aren't overwritten.

The bug itself is not fixed because it's seemingly random and they haven't been able to gather enough information to track it down. You can add your email to the CC list on the bug to follow it: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=249150

It's my understanding that it's not receiving much attention because in 2.0, it's all getting rewritten anyway. Bookmarks for now are stored in a simple text file, and in Firefox 2.0 it will use a small database (SQLite) to store bookmarks, site history, etc.

How do I get Firefox to search from the address bar like Opera? "g something" meaning "google something"?

Apparently the hanging is caused by an older version of Flashblock.

You can install the latest version of Flashblock on Firefox 1.5 from their website: http://flashblock.mozdev.org/

Also: if you use the "adblock" extension, uninstall it and install "adblock plus" instead. "adblock" is not supported anymore and is known to not work well with 1.5.

              Get adblock plus here: http://bene.sitesled.com/adblock.htm

Right click on the search field (like on google.com), select "Add keyword for this search".

Enter in the name and the keyword, store the bookmark somewhere.

Are there any useful new features apart from being able to reorder tabs?

Better rendering engine (support for SVG among other things), tons of bugfixes, new options pannel (including vastly improved cookie management), "Clear Private Data" feature, new error pages (allow you to re-submit forms if the page fails for whatever reason), incremenetal updates (patches instead of full new downloads for updates), etc.

Also enables more features for extension developers.
