Yeah, trust you to take the hearsay of some guy who doesn't even provide links to back up his empty claim because his little corner of England was unaffected - last I could recall I wasn't some expert website hacker that can make the BBC's website support my

Didn't know that you where so fond of masochism - your link just disproves the whole thread. Considering some hundred people stuck in bad weather as the close down of the country - well ...

On reading the thread title, I thought that Wimpy (i.e. hamburger joint) had gone under for the winter

Anyway, we (finally) got out first permanent snow cover yesterday (we had a snowstorm a couple weeks ago, but the slow melted). Our winters have been unusually mild since the late 90's. Global warming is obvious here. I always hear stories from my parents that winters back in the 60's and 70's were harsher here than they are today, and by what I've read, that is true.

Nope, just watching you prove that you can't count and seem to be oblivious to the fact that Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are indeed part of the UK...

You really don't like your feets since you keep on shooting yourself there

Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are hit by snow that would get even canucks to stop for a moment. Your nice little thread title indicates that UK goes to halt just because of the sighting of the first snowflake, wich may be true for the England part of UK, but not for the rest .

Earth to BlackCat: First snows in UK = thousands of drivers stranded, hundreds of people stranded overnight, hundreds of schools closed, whole towns snowed in across the country - all because of a few inches of snow...

I can't make it any plainer than I have already, feel free to keep proving why English is your 2nd language if you insist but I won't be wasting my time replying...

Good old weapon "second language" as a last resort is quite handy

I still remember having a chat with Rasbey in Finland, as we'd just had snow warnings and closed half of the roads where I live due to snow. His first question:

"how many feet did you have"

                              "about 6 inches"

We really are pathetic when it comes to snow. But how to improve? What can we do to prepare that doesn't cost a fortune, as with snow only coming ~once a year, and then never above a foot, it's not worth spending lots of money on solving it.

But he would think of something

One thing that's bad with the climate here is that we don't get enough snow often enough to justify buying a pair of skis for cross country skiing. I mean it's possible but only 2-3 weeks a year maybe. The further north you go the better conditions. Cross country skiing.

If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars
