Sorry. No, now I don't. I just re-read one of your earlier posts and realized that you mean't that the conservatives are too socially conservative. I got things a bit mixed up.

But asher is an example-- If Harper was simply silent on social issues, an Asher might consider voting for the COnservatives due to disgust with the liberals and a belief in conservative economic policies. AS it stands, Asher (and many others) find they can't vote for the cobnservatives due to some issue or other that is repugnant to their own beliefs

Well the thing is with the conservatives is that they have a big group of people that are socially conservative (older people) and a group of people like asher, (younger people) that want a more socially responsive conservative party,

How can they make both groups happy?.

I bet they are trying please the socially conservative group because there are more of them. More votes, but i don't think enought to win an election. When they do this they alienate people like asher.

Its not possible. He will have talk about it sooner or later. The media, the other partys, the people of Canada will all want to know where he stands on these things.

The way to make both groups happy would be to have two right-wing parties, the Progressive Conservatives and the CA party. Unfortunately, the only people who win when the vote is split like this are the lefties.

It will be less of an issue as most of the old guys die and the younger socially liberal economic conservative guys like me take power of the party.

I would very seriously consider voting for the PC of old if it were still around. In fact, i'd do it in a heartbeat.
