From the information published in the newspaper, the British authorities were able to recognize the memo in question (and charge someone for leaking it). In other words, they have not only acknowledged its existence, they have given proof that it was accurately quoted.

hmmm I'm not sure but I think that depends on whether the memo is an "official secret" because of what Bush said or if it would be that anyway because it's about a conversation the two heads of government had about the war in Iraq.
