I had soviet legos, and when I got here, I was given a lego technic plane for my high grades in the first grade. I built it with my dad, and also built the alternative helicopter. . I always dreamt I could buy the electric motor for it. Then they got me a regular lego, a spaceship, for the second grade.
I also got a transformer, that could turn into a spaceshuttle and a train engine.
Legos rule.

it was made of plastic
3-4 cards to put in either offense or defense and a variety of plays to pick from
then you flip a switch and it lights up a grid and gives you the yield..- yardage,plus yardage,td..penalty and such
I also had an electric one which had the guys that vibrated to make the play

Lincoln Logs
Hotwheels - I usually preferred the tracks to be in the air so I would tape several together for high bridges & dangerous stunts.
Brightlight - transformed it into a cheap pseudo-pinball game.
Non-hardening Clay - instead of "action figures" I made the fighters/creatures then have them fight, injuried or killed... made a whole world (aka table) filled of... stuff.
Electronic games:
early 1980s Handheld Electronic Football which featured very simple red-LED to represent the players and ball, so not at all like GrandpaTroll's. My older brother had one of those vibrating football games & he broke it before I ever got to try.
And some other less interesting hand-held games (pinball, dracula, ms.pac-man
, etc)
