  • The 6N highlights package wasn't very illuminating. Most of it was given over to Wales -v- Ireland. The first ten minutes aside, Wales were abysmal. I thought Ireland only pretty average. They should have put at least 50 points on Wales. Oh, and Ms Henson certainly ain't a #10.

The England -v- Scotland highlights consisted mainly of blue jerseys tackling white jerseys very very hard and a clueless England backline.

Mrs finbar decided I'd seen enough rugby and changed channels so I missed the France -v- Italy highlights.

I'm not saying anything at all about the new WA entrant. Not a thing.
You ... you ... you ... Western Force supporter!

    Surely, now, the supreme insult.

    • Look what I found when I happened to be pottering idly through another thread:

I knew it was a mistake looking at this thread. Now I feel the urge to go to the pub at lunchtime for a Steak and Ale Pie (washed down by a pint of Speckled Hen).

      Pub lunches :b

      • Well at least Scotland proved you can still win a game on defence alone - fair play to them.

It was the worst performance under Robinson - and that is saying something. Too many players in a comfort zone perhaps - and the small fact of two clueless centres and a wing who had the shocker of his life.

France were schizo again and helped hugely by another poor Spreadbury reffing perfomance - but I cannot see England beating them even so.

It is wise to avoid listening to turnip - him speak with forked tongue.

I would make wholesale changes - Sherdian, Thompson, both locks and possibly even my mate Cozza dropped (keep Sherdian and Cozza on the bench). Cohen must return to his club and gain some basic handling skills before ever being considered again. And surely the Tindall-Noon experiment has to be over now? Pick and two from Abbott, Smith and Clarke.

Another year, another disappointment - classic England!

        • Incidentally Tigers played on Friday night again and were deprived of all their senior and age group international players. Wasps played on Sunday AGAIN and were therefore able to field Dayglo, Shaw and Voyce.

Someone is really loading things in favour of Wasps this season - it is disgraceful!

Oh and Mr Chabal of Sale is in serious trouble - stood on Dayglo then spat on Waters as he left the field after ebing red carded.

          • I'm ticked off because they didn't televise the Leicester game on Friday. I wouldn't have minded a look at Matt Burke and Big Owen.

I just noticed the same thread. I don't think you can really blame him though. The title may as well have been a big neon sign with Havaks name on it!

                • I only post in the best threads.

I did go to lunch gentlemen - and i did have Steak and Ale Pie.

English cuisine is surely the finest in the world? Throw some MRM meat under a crust, put beer gravy on top and bobs your uncle - world class pie.

Had to slum it though - Adnams Broadside instead of Speckled Hen.

Burke as you know played very well Finbar - that is why the team that scored no tries won the game.

It was Finny's first game back in the side after being dropped - I have no idea how he went, sorry.

                  • Not to mention another loss under VD's captaincy. He'll be getting a complex. To go with the many others. Saw him as the special comments guy on the Sky 6N highlights show last week. Bright pink shirt. Looked like a spiv.

                    • Well it matches his pink face from the weekend. He was the BBC touchline pundit and when asked before the game who from the Scots line up would make into the England side he graciously conceded that Mike Blair (scrummie) might just make the bench. Whoops.

Still all is well in turnipland. No plans to change anything apparently.

                      • It's a shame this year's 6Ns seems to be a bit of a re-run of last year's - pretty damn average. Scotland seems to have taken on Wales' role, last year, of surprise packet, and les grenouilles remain schizophrenic. Wales have imploded on top of their injury woes on top of the question mark over them anyway, Ireland are average and scrappy - they should have thumped Wales - and England seem to remain two-thirds (perhaps stretching things) of a team with a major liability in the coach's box.

                          • Sadly I think that is a pretty accurate breakdown.

The England vintage of 2003 would have creamed all these sides. The vintage of 2006 has a coach that sees defeats as nothing to worry about really as the master plan (unknown to all but turnip) carries on apace.

You see it was the plan to make a shed load of school boy errors against the Scots. It is part of the turnip master plan to win RWC 2007.

Of course France will actually win that. NZ will go unbeaten until the RWC semi where they will meet schizo France on a mood upswing. France will then narrowly pip Scotland in the final in a boring 6-3 win.

England, having gone out in the pool stages, will be revealed to be following the new turnip master plan for victory in NZ in 2011.

                              • As far as I know it is not a democracy - he discusses it with his coaching team but Turnip makes all the final calls.
