Consider it like a weather forecast, Einstein.
For instance, 40% chance of rain for your locale means 40% of your locale will see rain. Be it water or nuclear.

Obviously if you live in or near a large city, attend sporting events, or go to malls, your chances increase.
I don't know why you think this is so stupid, unless it's because you are.
If a terrorist has access to nuclear explosives, not even the size a plane would carry, it's your odds of such an attack over other people in different circumstances.
If you live in the woods, or on top of a mountain or whatever, your chances are less.

      TO REDUCE BIO RISK:
      - Avoid contact with other people
      - Own a shack in the woods - or a cool boat
      - Avoid contact with lots of mail (think: Anthrax)
      - Avoid drinking tap water

        Risk:
        76% NUCLEAR
        66% BIOLOGICAL
        54% CONVENTIONAL

        Nuclear should be higher.

If al Qaeda gets the Bomb, it will use it on: NY, Washington, London or LA. I figure, LA because of the foiled Millenium Plot -- al Qaeda likes to go back and "fix" previously failed attacks. If the Bomb goes off at the harbor (snuck in by freighter), I'll be okay. But if it goes off downtown, I'm toast.

If a bio attack is an antrax-type attack, I'm safe. If it's a contageous plague, none of us are safe.

I work three blocks from City Hall, far enough away so that the closest conventional attack will miss me.

BTW: How does owning a gun factor in?? No one's going to fend off a nuclear attack with a Saturday Night Special.

I work for the government, inside the City of London. I'm not scared.

            yes these represent odds.
Now how where those odds calculated?
Well you start with this giant dice you see...
            Yes that one over there...

Q: "How many days have you been in one of: New York, London, Toronto, Washington DC, Chicago, Boston, Dallas, or L.A. in the past 5 years?"

I find it amusing that Toronto's lumped in with London, Washington, et al.

Given Toronto's nonstop drive to be world class, I'm sure some people will be flattered if/when the terrorists strike.

Why must it have to do with me?
I think I made at least a few points that you can ignore or not, but why attack me?
I know after a while its just a reflex, but if you step back a little for once and consider it doesn't serve anybody...

So how does that analogy translate into our situation?
50-75% of people here will be victims of nuclear attacks?
I really am interested on how these number can be interpreted to make sense?

I think the numbers are supposed to be percentiles. You're more at-risk than 75% of people.

(Of course, they still may be meaningless).

                        No seriously, Kuci nailed it.

the percentile thing could be an option
                          1. That's contrary to what you claimed with you analogy with rain.
                          2. That still doesn't answer how they would ever get the numbers. (Kuci also nailed this one it seems)
Who is more at risk between a black cab driver who lives in Wisconsin but drives to New York or a old lady who cleans the toilets at a nuclear plant every two weeks?
Well let's look at past data:
                          we have 0 data.
                          So let's say 75% and 34%.
                          Sounds about right to me.

                          Seriously think about it.
This is (Im exagerating a bit here) like claiming to know who is more at risk of alien abduction.

                          Who knows?

-Little do they realise that the main supplier of nuclear fuel for the US navy on the east coast is located merely 10 miles from my home.
                            Tell me about it:

                            48% NUCLEAR
                            60% BIOLOGICAL
                            29% CONVENTIONAL

And I live but ten miles from Oak Ridge National Laboratories. Not the priority 1 target it was in WW2 and after, of course, but the Russkies had a few nukes aimed here.

I should have told you in percentiles.

Does the test ask if you work in a big city? I think it does. If it's extremely rare to drive a cab to NYC, that's different than being a NYC cabbie. No matter the ethnic background.
                              Ditto the old hag.
At some point you'll need to use logic.

However, a terrorist must be pretty lame to come here to bomb Knoxville's most recognizable landmark, the "world famous" Sunsphere:
