My 3 year old (actually 4 years now) laptop can handle it. Maybe yours can too .

Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Civ4 runs slow on my comp. I go ram hunting before I play again
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

Me? I've been with my boyfriend for three months now. This is practically marriage.

                  Is everyone playing civ4?

                  No

and it's starting to really p!ss me off.

Then again, the last time I got to visit my* village, everyone was so excited. They finally saved up enough cash to buy a TV... So I guess complaining about my brand new P3 is kinda petty.

*(Ok, it's really more like my adopted village. Things are changing there,.. now they have electricity, TV and a 'phone line!!!)

I've heard that Civ4 has some compatibility issues with ATI cards. Hopefully they'll be all ironed out in 2 months.

Quake 4 is another matter. I may go out and buy it myself.
civ4 works good on my radion 9600 XT. I guess it's a hit or miss thing. I am having a few sound issues though. It may be the sound I set in the options eax 3. There are so many sound options to choose from. I should try another.

my computer is almost 2 years old (and wasn't top of the line back then).

I can run it decently with 512 megs of ram. Radeon 9600 XT video card. audigy 2 ZS card. And an Athalon 2600 + processor. Almost no slowdowns on a standard sized map. I'm playing a large terran map right now. The load times take a while, and the military advisor screen takes a very long time (though the military advisor isn't very useful right now- hopefully to be fixed in a patch); but other than that, the game runs okay. Oh it does take a while to zoom out to the globe view, but I don't do that too often.

I haven't seen any bugs at all with the game. I have a Radeon X800.

Interesting game. It's tough to be an optimizer, even at the lower difficulty levels, unlike Civ 1 and 2. Or at least I've found it tough so far.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

The shared experience of 'poly members will eventually yield a winning strategy.
If not, then we can go to CFC, and nick their strategy.

I stayed up until three last night playing civ4 mp. One of the other guys got nukes first and used them on me. Luckily nukes do very little in Civ4.
