For the first time in my life I have recieved two great job offers on the same day. This is a new position for me to be in but I have a feeling I could get used to it. It's even more surprising since I thought I blew one of those interviews since there was a mix up about the time. WOOOT!
Now I have to wait for the official offer letters and compare the compensation package as well as figure out which one would be the best fit for my career and personal life. The first one (which I thought I wouldn't get) is in the eviromental remediation field and it pays about $10k less then the other one, however, I'd be working a standard 8-5 and get to go home each night. The other is for a drilling company in the petroleum industry which pays around more but would require a lot of extended travel. The head geologist said they fly their people out to the production areas for 21 days (3 weeks) then give them a week of paid vacation each month. This means I might be working any where from the gulf coast, California, the rockies, or even Alaska/Canada. They even just got a big drilling contract for Exxon off the New Zealand coast so they're relocating 6-8 people to New Zealand for the next year.
The first company is a small but very rapidly growing local firm while the other is a large company which is well known in the oil & gas industry. Decisions, decisions.
