Why does it matter? Other people enjoy reading it too, apparently. If you don't want to read it, don't read it.

If "semi-reputable" news sources use blogs as sources, they're obviously not very reputable and you need to be more discerning of reputable sources instead of whining about blogs."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

And I like whining about blogs, thank you very much - though I suppose if anyone would know about whining, it's the blog community.Lime roots and treachery!

From what I've seen this isn't much different from a web log, but more dynamic with more people."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

There are plenty "serious blogs" that aren't about the author. Some are hard to distinguish from a well updated web page. For example Gene Expression at www.gnxp.com is written by multiple authors, pretty focused and only rarely personal (I have yet to see it, but I am not a regular reader).
I don't read any blog regularly these days, I've subscribed to a couple RSS feeds from blogs and I check sporadically for interesting topics.

I don't read blogs myself but if someone wants to put one up or read one I won't lose any sleep over it. The net is a big place and people can do what they want.Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh

I've heard thatsome surveys show that there are more people who write blogs than people who read them. Go figure.Let us be lazy in everything, except in loving and drinking, except in being lazy – Lessing

The 2 blogs I read:
http://www.waiterrant.net/ - Observations from a waiter
http://blogs.msdn.com/oldnewthing/ - A Microsoft guy blogging about programming and stuff. But I mostly ignore that part. His posts that don't involve code are much more fun/interesting.

Strong leaning toward democracy promotion.
Focus on WOT, strongly antitorture, intermediate on the neocon to "realist" scale.
An Internet hub with domestic and international news, analysis, original reporting, and popular features from the left, center, indies, centrists, moderates, and right
Moderate. Well, d'uh.

Similar to Oxblog, though these guys were generally opposed to the Iraq war on semi-realist grounds.Last edited by lord of the mark; November 1, 2005, 17:34."A person cannot approach the divine by reaching beyond the human.
