That was the second attack IIRC- the first was the Israeli embassy.

Lets not kid ourselves thought, it was a Jewish center in Argentina that was attacked- not just a community center.

Except there is really no such thing as the West. It's a political fabrication.

If you want to see where things are going, the enlarging divide is between Europe and Israel and the United States.

The latter two are socially and politically backward countries.

What the **** do you about Israel, you dumb twit?

Israel has one of the largest social support systems even in european standards.

As far as Israeli political structure, you're welcome to list things you know about it.

Maybe you should go read 'the guardian' some more, and stop opening your mouth about things you know **** about.

              • Of course it is. Ghandi made an interesting remark to the same effect.

It's a political idea, adopted by people when it suits them. It's also an illusion. New Zealanders for an example have as much of an affinity with Pacific Islanders than they do with Americans. Frankly, we find you a bit weird, but we are used to them and have adopted many of their ways (most New Zealanders are so familiar with these ways that they don't realize this and attribute them to their European heritage).

Are the Russians part of the West? Apparently only when they are doing what the person who makes the claim approves of. It's a racist idea... replace "The West" with "White People" and you have pretty much the same thing.

It's incoherent anyway. Latin American countries sometimes belong and sometimes do not, depending on how "white" they've been acting. New Zealand and Australia are supposed to be part of the "West", yet are about as far East as you can get.

Classical Greek heritage? Well the Muslims have that too. Alexandria, the great seat of Hellenistic culture was in Egypt.

When you have an incoherent concept like this (cf. the notion of "responsibility) it is highly likely that it is at root a political word.

I do know that - but people still voted for this fanatic in large numbers. He got millions of votes. So the Iran is mellowing thesis really doesn't hold up.

Unfortunately I have the burden of knowing more about what those f*ckers are up to than most of you.

Who's says it's because of rhetorics of the kind he's been displaying recently? He's a populist who promised to redistribute oil-wealth and ran against a former president who was seen as part of the establishment. Might very well be that the discontent vote channelled its way to Ahma-dude due to disillusionment with the reformists. The honesty of Iran's polls is also somewhat questionable.

Besides, I didn't say Iran is mellowing.

There is a difference between "fanatics" and hard liners. One group is revolutionary, the other reactionary.

The president got elected because he was a conservative populist, backed by the poor and war veterans who have not benefit much from the lackluster economy.

Given Bush is dangerously close to being a lame duck, the answer is certainly NO.

The West = Western Civilization = Europe (including Russia), Israel, the Americas, Austraslia, and New Zealand. That doesn't seem to hard to define.
