  • He was wiggling out of trouble all night. The Sox had several chances to break the game open, but Pettite is a great 2-out pitcher. The classic "crafty lefty."

Not sure why he was lifted, but Garner is a helluva manager, so I don't question it. But I was sure glad to see him gone.

Perhaps, but at some point, your luck runs out. The Astros do have a good bullpen as well. It wasn't like the Braves' bullpen now .

        • Not surprisingly, the corrupt people from Chicago are once again fixing a series.

The latest issue is forcing Houston to keep the roof open even though it's freezing there.

          • the Astros are the ones who are choosing to keep the roof open

according to what I've heard on the radio today, the Astros record with the roof open this year is like 42-11 or something...

the White Sox don't really care about the roof... if anything changes with that, it will be MLB's doing...

BUT GO AHEAD AND MAKE EXCUSES

and BTW, aren't both teams affected by the weather? I don't see how the White Sox would get an advantage

            • Houston projected high 72 degrees... low is 43...

so game time temp around 60 maybe? mid 50's at the lowest?

that is higher than it was in Chicago over the weekend

              • Actually Sava, I believe the Astros want to keep the roof closed, to make it louder, but Selig said screw that. It's nice out, leave the roof open. They did the same thing with Arizona in the 2001 WS.

yeah you are right I just heard that

the host on the sports radio I was listening to before that said the Astros wanted the roof open is a moron... he was the guy who said the Cubs should have kept Dontrelle Willis and played him in CF instead of Corey Patterson because pitchers always bat 100 points higher than their batting averages if they play the field

but still, to say the White Sox are trying to "fix the series" is dumb

                    • If Chicago needed to fix the Series, it wouldn't be about the stupid roof. And if the Astros think they need the extra crowd noise to win, what does that say about them?

Can't wait to see Roy Oswalt tonight. Apparently he's the 2nd coming of Cy Young...

                      • It's not just about the crowd...it's about the weather.

You see, it hurts a lot less when hit in warmer temperature. Considering how Chicago fans physically assaulted a female astro fan, it'd help out a bit.

but I better be careful not to go overboard... with my luck, the baseball Gods might make the Sox lose just to spite me!

                              • The Astros scored a run in the first, and the Sox threatened in the second, but a line drive double play took the wind out of their sails... Sox still down 0 - 1.
