  • From who's point of view? For instance Group F is tricky for Brazil, whereas G, A, and E are easy for their 'big teams.

As a top country all you want are two whipping boys in the group.
Well, difficulty of getting out of the group, I guess. So, if a 5th team were to enter the group, which group would be hardest/easiest.

    • One phrase comes to mind as I think again on the US's pairing... SONS OF *****ES!

It'll be very tough to break through against Italy or Czech Republic. We have to hope for a win against either of the two, or a draw, and then try to outscore Italy.
yeah, well, lets see if the US can play with the big boys (i predict not)

the french better be careful; the last time we played em, we dominated like no other, but didnt get the result. third time is the charm.

      • The US is gonna break through some time or other. I have no idea about the quality of their team, but this seems as good a time as any.

        • By breaking through, I simply mean advancing. Having a prayer of winning is a while yet.

          • they broke through in 2002, when they qualified second in a group with poland, south korea, portugal, then beating mexico in the r of 16, only to lose to germany in the quarterfinals.
they have never proved that they can play with the best. the only reason they made it to the quarters was because they played mexico in the r of 16, a crap team whos lack of skills are only exceded by their willingness to start fights and play dirty.

              • if anyone, I would say the czechs. the italians score one goal and then put 10 men behind the ball for the remaining 60 minutes. czechs are a little more attacking, a little more open, allowing chances for counterattack (not that the US is especially good at that, they are way too slow)

                • The Italians would be ideal. It could start a civil war on the East coast that could engulf large parts of Canada.

It would serve the Italians right to be dumped by the Yanks, unless they play some less boring version of football than I usually see them play.

                      • Group C is the Group of Death (two in a row for the Argies). That's the only group where I think any of the four teams can go through.

That's almost true in group E but Ghana aren't as good as Ivory Coast and the USA aren't as good as Serbia and Montenegro so I think Italy and the Czechs won't have too much trouble progressing.

I can't believe someone said group F is tricky for Brazil. They'll walk that, easiest group for the seeds. Croatia are not that good these days, Austrialia did well to even qualify and Japan are rubbish. Second place in that group is totally up for grabs though.

                        • ps. In the Premiership it's nice of ManU and Arsenal to try and hand the title to Chelsea, good thing Liverpool are trying to mount a challenge or it'd be all over.

Too true. You only have to look back at the Confederations Cup matches to see how Brazil pretty much walked over the rest of the teams playing.

A point made by one of the TV pundits here was that the fans at ManU have seen enough good ManU sides to know a bad one. No wonder they got booed off the pitch yesterday.

3000+ at their game vs Castleton Gabriels on Saturday, great atmosphere, and even their team got applauded when they scored a cracking goal. 10-2 final score

                              • Proper fans stick with their team through times of adversity, they don't jump ship as soon as things don't go their way with the club or an owner they don't like comes in.
