...not just computer-illiterate...computer retarded.
So apparently I bought a CD I thought was a game, but was instead Daemon Tools, which puts a ghost CD drive on your computer. When I recognized what this was, and the fact that it apparently had a virus in it that kept eating up my HD space, I deleted it (since there was no uninstall file) and all the files with it. Now, however, I am left with a ghost DVD drive that annoys the hell outta me, how do I get rid of it? I click on it and it keeps prompting me to insert a disk into the drive, which I don't of course because the drive doesn't physically exist. The annoying thing also is that it apparently reset a bunch of things linking to my external HD to the ghost drive which has nothing, so a lot of my shortcuts now don't work. Any idea on how to get rid of this drive?
