Wow -- there are some Republicans out there who really do believe that torture and inhumane treatment is a bad thing.

Does anyone still not believe that McCain would have made a better President then Bush
          No
Double negative there so I thought you meant you did believe Bush was a better President then McCain would have been.

No need to apologize to someone whose give-a-**** is broken -- after all, a person who doesn't have a functioning give-a-**** can never be offended by anything.

                  chegitz guevara here

I think this may have something to do with the hunger strike currently being conducted by the detainees (who are being force fed, btw).

What may be truly sad for the US of A is that, in thirty years, if our economy has already been damaged beyond the point of no return by Clinton, Bush, and the Republican Congress, and that due to inaction by the Republicans we become a second class nation due to our energy and import dependence - then we may have the first ex-US President indicted by a War Crimes tribunal.

Don't laugh. There may be enough hate for us now, and that combined with the politics of opportunity by the new world powers, and Bush's own actions, could create the situation where a legitimate conviction could be obtained. The Gonzales torture memos would be enough to convict someone in the Balkans as an accessory. Think about it.

Clinton did not damage our economy.

Yeah, that irrational exuberance that causes Exxon and Worldcom and all those other companies to rip off the public had nothing to do with the business environment engendered by Clinton.

Clinton greatly improved our economy and helped balance the budget though he should have pushed up CAFE standards to help ween us from foreign oil.

Of course the Republican Congress would never have gone along with it.

Oerdin - I respectfully disagree. Clinton also worshipped at the Altar of Free Trade, and did not take agressive steps to stop some of the worst excesses of our trading partners. IMHO he did not wreck the economy, but stood buy while certain changes occured that gravely threatened our future as a world class power. The Republican party of the time actively supported those changes. Bush on the other hand is in the process of gutting the economy.
