The top Dems in this situation are Leader Reid, Whip Durbin, Deputy Whip Feingold, DSCC Chair Schumer, and Ranking Dem in Judiciary, Leahy. Lieberman doesn't belong in there, and he certainly doesn't speak for Reid.

First off, the diary wasn't by Kos or any of the front page diarists and secondly it was widely condemned by the Kossacks who posted in the thread. Out of a community of thousands, a handful of *******s certainly doesn't constitute some kind of organized smear by the Democratic Party.

I never claimed it was insidious, but I do think the Times was subtlely hinting at the fact that Roberts may be gay. Not exactly the behavior one would ideally expect out of the paper of record, but I find it more amusing than worrying.

That's the beauty of the article. While obviously gay, it's subtle enough that people like you can believe that it was all a coincidence, while people like me can believe that they knew what they were doing when they opened the third paragraph with this sentence...
