  • Ouch, I would have taken them for six or more, but no further.

And yes, Donegeal is the Commie Knocker.

    • One of my friends made some friendly bets that the Titans would go 13-3 or better on the season. A shame I didn't get in on that action...

Although they could win out and be 13-3.

As a result of his condition, he will be unable to perform his head coaching responsibilities for an indefinite period of time.

After consulting with Mike, we have all agreed that assistant head coach Joe Vitt will be the interim head coach of the Rams during Mike's absence.

He's rubbish as a coach, but let's hope he'll be alright.

        • On his own 15 yd line a San Diego punt returner calls for a fair catch but muffs it, and the ball falls right into the lap of a Steelers player. After the refs discuss it the ball is given back to San Diego. Reason? Because the Pittsburgh player "interfered" with the Chargers players ability to "complete" his attempted fair catch! It bounced off the San Diego player right to the Pittsburgh player! Absolutely amazing!
San Diego ended up with a field goal out of the deal. At least a 6 point, if not 10 point turn around here!

          • It's the rule, Darsnan. May be dumb, but so was the tuck rule, and that was upheld.

And it didn't really bounce into the lap of the Pittsburgh player... the Steelers guy was moving forward to get the ball .

            • I actually agree with the ruling on the field. In THIS specific case, it'd be nice to have a rule allowing this to be a true fumble, BUT ...

... Imagine a case where a guy tries to fair catch, it bounces a few inches up in the air off of his arm, and then ...

... is grabbed out of his grasp by a defensive player.

That's no different from what happened on the field, except in degree.

Rules shouldn't allow that much interpretation. They should say that the ball must fall on the ground after a call for a fair catch - as they do - in order to be considered free game.

              • Anyhow, has anyone noticed how Keenan McCardell has been noticably quiet today?

I just need THREE points from him today (60 yds, iirc) ... Three points ...

This is sadly reminiscient of the monday a few weeks ago in which I needed only 3 points from Alge Crumpler and didn't get them

I'd be satisfied if he was quiet every week.

That traitor wouldn't even get the time of day from me.

                  • I wonder if Reismark feels the same way about those that leave for Tampa in free agency .

It's a business, get over it.

He didn't leave via free agency. He breached his contract, held out for months and left us to the wolves. We wouldn't have started the way we did last year had he not betrayed us.

There's a difference between being a free agent and strong-arming your way out of a city because you're a greedy little twerp. And the independent arbitrator who heard our grievance agreed. Totally.

Keenan McCardell is a traitorous scumbag who deserves every bit of misfortune that comes his way for what he did to our team.

Oh, boo hoo. Like I said, it's a business. Hold outs are part of that business and every team has had to deal with them. Especially since you have a league where there are no guarenteed contracts.

So grow up and stop whining .

                        • I have to say that the NFL does have an absurd contract setup... players HAVE to hold out, essentially, to give them any power at all. No other league allows termination of contracts without any (significant) penalty or just cause ...

                          ... not that I like holdouts (Benson ) ...

I just want 60 recieving yards from him

                            • ... and now I have a 0.06 point lead

1 point from Jeff Reed will give me SOME cushion, but i really need a parker-or-roeth turnover

Edit: Apparently Yahoo partially updated the score after the TD but didn't finish ... it clearly gave the pts from the TD, but didn't give the pass + yardage pts, as now after the XP i'm down 1.5 pts ...

Seems like this is going down the tubes barring a fumble or pick

                              • Okay, did McCardell get hurt or something? I'm going to specifically look for him next play ... I haven't heard his name called YET, and if it weren't for Madden talking once about him as if he were there, I'd be SURE he wasn't in the game ...

Sadly my non-cable TV isn't good enough to read numbers well

Edit: He definitely was in on the last play, #87, yet ... he hasn't been thrown to in forever. Pitt doesn't exactly have a super-duper-cover-corner like Champ or someone to shut down one receiver totally ...
