To be fair, the good idea behind it was probably to give muslim women a chance to get out of their traditional milieu (cliche: home/children) etc. But the more modern women of them probably have other contacts anyway, and those in more fundy families will probably be still not allowed to have more contacts in the infidel world without "supervision" of their men.

Meanwhile, some (men) started suing the city of Hannover, since they think the "Frauenbadetag" is unconstitutional, because it violates the equality idea. I'm wondering how that will turn out.

I don't thin it's the right way for integration that all society gets hijacked by some religious morals of one group. Why shouldn't I be allowed to go to the bath on, say, Mondays because someone "feels uncomfortable" with it.

to be blunt as always, muslim families can be usually ultra conservative (not all of course ). now turks living in germany are from poor background. normal, otherwise they wouldnt have come there in the 1st place.

It's not just infidels, Bereta_Eder. It is unrelated men, in general. At a public bath, there'd be a lot of "unrelated" men, therefore, it's not a place such a female member of good standing from a highly conservative family should be.

No idea I think the line of thought was: women staying always in their traditional milieus = makes integration of them impossible. That is IMO not so wrong, but the "solution" they offer now with the Frauenbadetag is just counter-productive.

There are differences though. The "emancipated western woman" can take care of herself with her attitude. And her environment is accostumed to treating her with respect. Not looking down on her. Turkey is different. I won't even talk about places like Saudi Arabia. And people bring their culture with them so.
