    1. Paraphrasing what an FBI Agent recently said, boy am I glad we've won the Global Struggle Against Violent Extremism that we can devote funds to this.

    2. It's my understanding that even Suicide Girls, is under investigation.

Yep. I'm still waiting for an answer from the prudes who say a kid seeing bare breasts will be emotionally scarred.

I wonder if the agents will be sub-divided in taskforces, each dealing with a different slice of internet deviance?

I don't mean to troll, but I just want to state my opinion, one that even most non-prudes would find shocking, considering that child pornography is such a taboo in America.

I personally think that child pornography that is not created with the participation of children (e.g. it is animated) is not destructive or morally wrong. (I believe this is a similar position and opinion in Japan; then again, note that it's an entirely different nation, and the huge cultural differences between the two nations.)

There is a difference between having a desire, satisfying that desire with a substitute (or realizing that the material isn't real and the like and pretend differently) and acting upon it in the real world. Why do you think that incest and the like is so popular on porn sites? Because it's a taboo, and people find it pleasing to satisfy their own sexual desires without acting on it in the real world.

Now, obviously, if the pornography involved real children, that's a completely different matter altogether.

            Bill3000.

Good for you for having a different opinion, but it's entirely irrelevant to the issue that the OP brought up, which is the fact that the FBI is now creating an anti-adult porn, as in, between consenting adults, squad.

While I'll have to say virtually all adult porn is either boring, plastic, or too crude, aren't there... other things the government could be spending money on? To, you know, serve and protect the people?

While CyberShy does have a very valid point--one can't ever be certain that the women involved in porn are actually doing it because they want to--does anti-adult-pornography have to be elevated to the same level as anti-terrorism?

                Meh. Sorry about that.

Either way, I agree. It is rediculous to have money spent on something as worthless as this. Even if it was non-consentual, it really isn't worth to spend any money on, as there are a ton of significant problems we have today to fix.

Most of the arguments toward pornography are based on irrational fears.

well, I would also like to point out that his point doesn't stand in the US

we don't have the eastern european sex slave problem that europe has

(we still have some slavery issues, but is mostly by immigrants against other immigrants, or the one that all capitalist societies have)

Hmm. I don't think they'll ever be able to put a dent in pornography, let alone stamp it out. It's a multi-billion-dollar industry, which tells me that it's more than a minority of folks out there who peruse it for whatever purposes.

While I agree with the sentiment, I don't think that is what the FBI will be going after.....

                        The FBI

will be going after the right to surf porn at work. They will also be able to expense all those porn subscriptions back to the US taxpayer. It makes me feel good that a portion of my hard work will go towards helping FBI agents jerk off at work.

The FBI has long been America's sex police. That was why they were originally created.

This won't fly with the public. Except to make sure that kids aren't accessing porn from school. That's what the US tax payer wants. The right to watch whatever bit of dirty filth that he or she wants from the privacy of their home, but to have that exact same thing blocked and be unaccessable to their child.

This isn't about protecting anyone other then the jobs of politicians. The GOP loves culture war issues because they are essentially meaningless and allow politicians to grandstand without actually doing anything meaningful.

The GOP knows that gays and porn get the religious right worked up so they will pander to these "issues" in order to shore up the fundimentalist vote.

Oerdin, it's not just the GOP that loves culture wars. Both sides do it, and both play that game all the time.
