  • GTA wrecks a relationship

So, my roommate's girlfriend (who had been living with us for the past 3 months) packed up her stuff today and left. Her reasoning was that my roommate didn't pay enough attention to her.

Lately, he has been playing GTA: San Andreas a lot, but not in an all-consuming manner (he can go days without playing, and can play for just a few minutes at a time). But I bought him the game for his birthday in August. Should I feel guilty?

Note that I was under the impression they spent a lot of time together. They went out to dinner several times a week, rode to work and back every day and watched movies and such all the time. And that's not counting their bedroom time.

I think she is just jealous of CJ.

dude, if a game is going to come between them, that relationship was not going to last...

Boris, as a gay man, you may not be aware of what "not paying enough attention to me" is code for in the world of hetero romance.

If relationship can't handle that, if it's like you say, not horrible addiciton to it, then it was about time it broke into pieces.

The girl was clearly selfish little person who deserves nothing but the burning flames of hell.

Maybe she was just using it as an excuse to leave.

Another few thousand relationships killed and it might even catch up to Civ.

I'm tellin' ya, this has nothing to do with GTA and everything to do with a whole 'nother version of "going downtown."

I'd bet the video game had very little to do with it and she was upset about something else. It's never just about the video game/cigar/fill in the blank.

A friend of mine was talking about how she new a couple, where the guy was totally addicted to videogames. It got to the point where she demanded he get off the computer and have sex with her or she'd leave.

The relationship has got to be strong enough for time consuming games. Computer usage is going to peak and trough over the years.

I know I must be really into playing a game when I start to get complaints (recently only complaints about GTA and Guild wars)

Sounds like your roommate was with someone of really high maintenance.

It's looking like GTA might have screwed over civ lovers too. Since the whole virtual sex easter egg was found TTI has been having a bad, really bad quarter so they've pushed up the release date for Civ 4. Ready or not it will hit the store shelves so the CEO can try to save his job by hiding how bad a quarter they've had.

It is also questionable if the secular Kurds and fundimentalist shi'a can hold together this marriage of convience. Up until now it has been mutual dislike of the sunni Arabs which has kept them together but what happens when the civil war is raging and the Kurds don't like religious laws the Shi'a keep forcing through? Or what happens when the Kurdish political class can no longer placate their people's desire for independence with autonomy? What would the other two do if the Kurds made their 5th or 6th bid for independence since WW1?
