I think in order for a political cartoon to be effective it has to avoid blatant partisanship. Its a hard line to walk but most of these are just pathetic drivel penned for the ignorant.

I have to admit I'm still trying to figure out what the asylum seekers cartoon even is. Is it a train?

Yes, it's a train. About 65 years ago over here trains were crossing our borders filled with people never to return again. These days people are deported back to where they came from and never heard from again.

Thats what I thought it was about (assuming it was a train).

Its more art than cartoon though.

That's what makes it a great cartoon.

Yeah because that was SO funny LOLOLOLOLOLOL
As funny as Star Wreck: The Pirkinning and people finding that great

BTW the last post explains exactly what I meant: why writing "supply" and "demand"? Are they too stupid to figure out the fun by themselves, or is it the american way to semplify everything, including humorism? Just like milk, you have a fat milk becoming a non-fat milk? No! It becomes some kind of tasteless serum. Blah. Use your brain and don´t waste time with people treating you like stupid kids.
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

A lot of people don't figure things out unless they are beat over the head with it. Exibit A: Bush.

                            Cartoons are by definition simplistic.

                            Pronunciation: kär-'tün

                            Usage: often attributive
Etymology: Italian cartone pasteboard, cartoon, augmentative of carta leaf of paper -- more at CARD
1 : a preparatory design, drawing, or painting (as for a fresco)
2 a : a drawing intended as satire, caricature, or humor b : COMIC STRIP
                            3 : ANIMATED CARTOON
4 : a ludicrously simplistic, unrealistic, or one-dimensional portrayal or version
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed. But they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

It isn't one of Altan's finnest, I'll admit that Datajacky. However seeing as you're right wing and a supporter of berusconi I'll expect you to be biased to the extreme againgst him.
To my defence: I treid and I searched long and hard to find scetches of Altan. It seems the english speaking internet hasn't yet discovered him. Every month there are strips of him however that are both the epitomy of cynicism and satire in an underground comic I read. Maybe I should use my digital camera take pictures of them post them and translate them. But it's too much hard work,

I searched the net and I only found ONE site in english where mind you the author starts by saying that simplistic people laugh with simplistic jokes and he refered to italians in justapostiction with the british.
now it didnt surprise me that he had only some of the lowest strips by Altan. He mustn't have undertood his better humour.
At least you bucharestian, you should be thankfull I terid to do some research nevertheless

                              ungrateful people
