  • Opera now free

Faster, safer and smarter than default browsers. Fully-featured for privacy, security, and so much more. Get the faster, better Opera browser for free.

    Why we're going free

Opera has removed the banners, found within our browser, and the licensing fee. Opera's growth, due to tremendous worldwide customer support, has made today's milestone an achievable goal.

With the major reason not to use it gone, there really is no excuse for people to not try it now.

I will admit that it's a big step forward. But I still wouldn't use Opera over Firefox even if they paid me its former price.

Because having to pay for a web browser is a stupid idea?

Yes there is. It's called Firefox.

I'd say Opera was perfect if it had better ad blocker and flash blocker.
