  • German unemployment is also falling, corporate profits are up, and Germany has become the world's biggest exporter.

The country has some serious structural problems, but I doubt you'd be having the same judgement if Germany would be going through a real-estate induced consumer's binge.

    • The IMF is expecting German growth of 0.8% this year and 1.2% next year. This is acceptable to you?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

        • Any new electyion maps?

I wonder why Pommern and southern Saxony are both right-winged in red sea of DDR
And why Lower Saxony and this strange belt pointing at France are red.

Yes, as you see, it´s rising again. You cannot compare growth rates of fully developed countries with 230 inhab./km² to those of giant ressource-rich underpopulated countries as the US. Also our GNP is calculated very differently compared to yours.

60% of all innovations in the automobile industry this year came from German companies. At least there´s something to cling to...

Speaking of post industrial economies: The mechanization eats employees, as most jobs in the industrial sector can be substituted with robots. And with the development of intelligent software agents, most jobs in the third sector will also be lost sooner or later. So unemployment CAN be seen as an indicator for a very modern economy

People voting for DieLinke.PDS is no sign of bad politics. That party is pro-family, promising creche places for every child for free. THAT`s why people are fond of them. In the west they can´t score with that, because there everybody knows it´s not affordable. But in the east we had an excellent family care system for 40 years, so people here think it´s doable.

No, the one on http://www.spiegel.de/flash/0,5532,11922,00.html is the final one until the Dresden people (~230,000) get to vote. We´re quick counters, aren´t we?

              • Remember that Germany is less developed than USA in terms of GDP/capita adjusted for PPP

                Population density is irrelevant.

Are you holding Schröder accountable for the lack of rising real estate prices?

Other parties is mainly the NPD/DVU (national democrats / far right wing). Sadly, those got 10% of the state parliaments in several eastern German states... (Saxony, Brandenburg etc.)

                                You deserve Schroeder.

Sure you can. But even if you didn't, you can compare against your EU peers. Germans are becoming comparatively impoverished among EU citizens.

Also our GNP is calculated very differently compared to yours.
                                No it isn't.
