    I prefer Gnome to KDE...

I can't stand the uselessness and spatial interface of Nautilus.

Konqueror is what makes me prefer KDE, even if the rest of it is ****e.

(so, actually, I like neither, I just use Konqueror from KDE.)

How is it possible to test it?

              Simulators, ATI/Nvidia have alpha hardware.

Is that for game graphics accelerators or are they testing with some of those $5K graphics boards that they use for movie special effects?

I'll just stick with XP for a while.

They test it using $100,000 simulators...

Most of the code is cross-platform interpreted Python anyway . Porting the core shouldn't be difficult .

Considering that even today 1GB of DDR400/PC3200 RAM is $64...that's not very outlandish.
                        A lightweight WM "requires" 128 MB on Linux . . . . .

So you're comparing what a window manager requires versus what MS says the average computer running the entire OS will be, given that it's targeting new PCs only?

                          Hello?

I'm sorry , I meant the whole thing - kernel , shell , Xwindow server , and WM , all of them take 128 Megs minimum , more depending on what applications you want .

I think it is only natural that OS, as time progresses, requires more power, so people who are criticizing Vista or any OS because they think it should run on 12MB of RAM should stick with something like 3.1
