    That's odd.

Just not long ago you made the assertion that competition was bad while defending Microsoft's contemptible business actions.

Shame on you for expecting rational consistency from Asher, UR.

I think you're getting confused by the fact that if we had a million different operating systems everyone would be far worse off.

There needs to be a standardized or very limited number of operating environments for programs, it's the nature of the beast with OSes. The more fragmented platforms you have, the far higher the development costs and the higher chance of having far more bugs.

That's why we need to pick a standard API and environment like .NET, and use them on whatever OS you want.

To understand the computer and software market you need to have both a business sense and computer knowledge, so it comes as no surprise that as someone who has neither, you and Aggie are always out to lunch in these threads.

It's not a matter of consistency, it's a different situation altogether -- operating systems involve an entire ecosystem of software that run on them, while competition between Google and Microsoft in areas like web services have no such dependant ecosystem.

I hear Google is a better lay. Just what I heard.

I heard Google is rather "popular", if you know what I mean.
You may want to be careful with that one...

Google knows more about me than I do.
