I had an interesting discussion with a friend tonight about this and she brought up a good point. It's possible that many of those looters are drug addicts who suddenly cannot get their drugs of choice and they're freaking out, going through withdrawal and stuff like that resulting in this madness.

A point that Nancy Jiles brought up this morning that struck me. She was originally thinking what they hell do people need to loot Nikes and jeans and such for. People who've lost everything need shoes, need clothes.
