I used to read Mad religiously back in the 70's. Then I got into Heavy Metal when they were running The Airtight Garage. I stopped reading sometime after the Ranxerox story ended. HM had some of the strangest story lines. I also used to follow Art Spiegelman's RAW. That had some of the best comics I have ever read.

I also read the Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns. I was never really into the whole super hero thing, but Frank Miller made Batman exciting and interesting.

DC's Doom Patrol, especially the Grant Morrison issues. Weird, wild stuff.

Of a supernatural bent, Sandman and Hellblazer.

Considering that would be around the time the Clone Saga kicked off, I highly doubt that he would get all that much for him. That stinker nearly killed the back issue market for Spidey.

I remember I had the "Infinity War" back in the day when the Magus (Adam Warlocks evil side) creates dopplegangers of every superhero on the planet. That storyline sucked compared to the Infinity Gauntlet...

...I think that THAT storyline was the best Marvel produced.

Especially when Thanos b*tchslaps every superhero (even my fav. Doctor Doom) then takes on the Cosmic Beings and tears them a new one.



Oh, I heard that there is a compendium of a series where Spiderman supposedly takes on his greatest supervillains all at one time...something like they all say "screw it" and decide to gangbang him.

Yes, I have a few thousand lurking around- I used to collect from an early, early age, so I have some Sixties D.C. and Marvel that are looking 'loved'.

I very much enjoy 'Planetary', loved the original 'Stormwatch' and 'Authority', enjoyed 'Rex Mundi' and 'Terra Obscura' and offbeat series such as the original 'Mr. X' series and Ted McKeever's 'Eddy Current'.

Most of mine were pre-clone saga. I kinda lost interest after that. What a dumbass move on their part.

I love the Sinister Six though.

Anyone remember the time they had the "new fantastic four" with spider-man, ghost rider, wolverine & the hulk? That was a pretty cool series.

I just saw two movies based on famous comic books, Sin City (Frank Millers) and Immortel (ad vitam) (Enki Bilal). My first reaction to Sin City was that it looks great, its entertaining, but its seriously dumb ****, oozing with film noir clichés. But then I realized that it was a comic, so I forgave all the movie's sins. The other movie was good, a good introduction to Enki Bilal's work, but the integration of CG characters and universe with real actors didn't always work right.

Ming is a BIG fan of comics, and I'm sure he'll be along shortly to say so.

I haven't read them for years. However, I did love them, especially obscure ones. Brain Boy was cool.

But Herbie Popnecker comics were the greatest. You can have your Man of Steel or your Dark Knight, I'll take little 3 x 3. Herbie would be getting yelled at by his dad for not mowing the grass, when a call would come in from the President. Herbie would go into his drawer full of lollipops, pull out one maked "flying" and go zooming off to his next adventure. More than one bad guy was apprehended after been bashed by a lollipop. "Burp." I remember once when the bad guys had Herbie tied to a tree in India and left to the mercies of a man-eating Bengal tiger. The tiger stopped in mid-pounce to exclaim, "Herbie! Herbie Popnecker! Gee, I never thought I'd meet a famous guy like you out here in the jungle! Can I have your autograph??"
