God will say, I gave you brains to understand the universe, and instead you cling to superstitions? Intelligent design my ass, you were my worst mistake!Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Can anyone point me to one reasonable argument on why ID should be taught in schools alongside the Theory of Evolution? Might as well teach the Intelligent Falling alongside gravity, too right? As a biology major it is mind boggling to me that people can still uncategorically deny evolution. Theories in science are put forth and accepted when all available evidence supports it. Just like the theory of gravity, when all observable phenomena take place in accordance with it, it is accepted as a theory. Until a major contradiction arises, it will continue to be the main theory used to explain certain things. The same is true for evolutionary theory.
There are no contradictions in this theory. And there is a mountain of evidence (moreso than some other theories) to support it. Maybe if we found an ape fossil that dated back to 500 million years ago there might be a problem. But so far all the fossil evidence shows that as time went on in the world, more and more complicated species arose. The only thing that is missing in evolutionary theory is the mechanism of how drastic changes occur. Several theories have been put forth (like Gould's Punctuated Equilibrium) but not one explains the actual mechanism on how it would come about and take place. But just because you don't know how those specific changes would have occured it is dangerous to fill in the gaps with "hey its too complicated, it must be God." For thousands of years mankind has been using God to explain the universe. Until a few hundred years ago, many people continued to believe such falsehoods like the earth was the center of the universe despite sound scientific claims otherwise. Slowly but surely science has always found a way to explain how the universe functioned. But the fact is evolution challenges a fundemental belief of the major religions. Its going to be a long fight, but in a couple of hundred years I'm sure evolution will be accepted just like any other theory.

"God will say, I gave you brains to understand the universe, and instead you cling to superstitions? Intelligent design my ass, you were my worst mistake!"
So you're postulating a commie God?Does He then not believe in Himself?
"That's assuming you're good enough to get into heaven.
No offense."
Oh hell, none taken.Actually I don't have to worry about being "good enough", but that's a long story which you can find in most hotel's bedside drawers.

How did Galactus survive anyway?

Dunno if it's posted yet, but he makes a good point about the design of eyes which I'd forgotten (last time I took bio was in 2000-2001). Namely, that there's a blind spot because the retina has a bundle of nerves on top of it, whereas all modern digital optic devices have the sensors/nerves behind the sensors.
He brings it up because apparently it's a favorite example of ID proponents in regards to things like irriducible complexity and brilliance of design.

As far as being "good enough", I'm not sure how long the story is in the hotel's drawers. Last one I was in, I saw a list of clients, presumably for a call girl.B♭3
