Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

The speed is unmatched. Hotmail is just plain terrible -- I hope I don't need to even talk about that one further.
Yahoo is, IMO, unreliable.
For the past two days when I try to access it, I get this message (well, it's in the attached image).
Gmail is the mail service that started the 1GB thing, until then Yahoo was 4MB and Hotmail was 2MB.
Gmail's interface is far more responsive (in that it actually responds instantly when you click something, not behave like a webpage).
Gmail's label system (where a certain email can contain 0 or more labels, which can sorta work like virtual folders) doesn't exist in other webmail programs.
I've never been able to get keyboard shortcuts to work in other programs, while they've always worked in gmail.
Gmail's mail search is far faster than Yahoo/Hotmail.
Gmail has new features added faster than Yahoo/Hotmail, and when they are added, they're useful.
Gmail has a far better spam detection engine than Yahoo/Hotmail -- I got 2148 spam mails in the past 30 days (my old shaw.ca account is forwarded to gmail), and all but literally a handful were caught by google's spam filter, and I've never had a "false positive".
As for Google Talk -- the interface is just far nicer. There's so many nice touches that it doesn't feel like a chore to use with many conversations. If you'd use it for a day or two you'll see what I mean.
Google tends to introduce changes in new products while MSN/Yahoo are happy to clone eachothers services ad nauseum. Google pushes the boundaries with each product its releases, and invigorates the markets they enter.
Even if you don't use Google's products, you need to respect them for making MSN/Yahoo panic and get their sh*t together to make better products.

Forgot to attach the image displaying Yahoo's awesomeness. It's been like this for the past two days at least, I haven't accessed it in a while before that.

I see google is still doing its retarded invite only for gmail. As if it was worth the time to even set this up for iChat, they still expect people to go out of their way to use their email program.

With 2.5GB per account and hacks out there to make "gmail filesystems" part of Windows for extra storage, they have to be careful that people they invite are genuine.
The whole reason they're "collecting mobile phone numbers" is that way you can pretty much guarantee that it's a real person, and not one person signing up for 600.
On that note, people who are interested in gmail usually know someone using it...and each user has about 50 invites to give away. I have 150 total across 3 accounts...
Is that what this is about, you're bitter because no one sent you an invite?

As a side note...gmail quietly added a new feature.
You can now send email "from" any email address (that you have to verify is you). This is extremely useful for people with multiple accounts.
I've got 3 accounts total I'll use starting in September, my gmail account and 2 school accounts (one CPSC, one non-CPSC). Both school accounts are already forwarded to my gmail account, and then a filter I've set up will automatically label them "CPSC" or "School", as appropriate.
Now I can also reply/send new mail "from" my school email address, but all while within gmail.
So I can send/reply from 3 emails within my gmail account now, w00t.

I remain unimpressed. Maybe it's because I don't email much, maybe it's because I don't actually go to the website to access my current email. Maybe it's because I haven't been sucked into the Google Reality Distortion Field
Heah, with gmail you don't have to organise your mail as your RE: RE: RE: RE: ... mails are transformed into "conversations" storing all it form the start unless you or the other person changes the subject.
I've had conversations of 100+ mails.
