I don't think they're always stupid. This, however, is.

It takes away from the time and effort the President has to push other stupid things. If we had a even a halfway competant President, then yes, this would be stupid. As it is, it's slowing down his agenda to destroy America.

No it's not. It's just making the Dem's look like there's nothing good on which to attack the President, so they have to resort to this.

Whatever, I don't care. They're all corrupt and implicit in the unraveling of our social fabric. **** 'em all.

Now that they've had the Dean-Reid-Pelosi spine transplant, they're much more effective at standing up to the administration, and it's paid off huge political (as well as monetary) dividends.

And, btw, the Dems aren't opposing Roberts at the moment. All they've asked for is full disclosure of his background before confirmation hearings, which the White House stonewalled for a while. Otherwise, Reid and other Dem senators have only been saying that it's premature to discuss anything until the hearings.

Whereas opposing the Republicans where they are reasonable and correct is sure to give independents a reason to choose Democrats over Republicans, right?

And even opposing the Republicans on "reasonable" things might not hurt them, esp. wrt to rallying the base. That tactic has worked with the Republicans and their base, after all. Logic and politics aren't exactly common bedfellows.

Anyway, I don't see where Sava's coming from, since he has yet to grow up himself.

Grow up Kuci (agist slur +1)! It's a very intelligent political move. Opposing the President on the easy things makes it him think twice about the harder things. The Republicans used it brilliantly during the 90s after they gained power by Gingrich. He understood that principle and made Clinton into an uber-moderate whereas when he came into office he proposed a single-payer health care system and had raised taxes. The Democrats under Reid are trying to take that lesson from the Gingrich Republicans.
