Shouldn't Israel be black as well?
Religious parties have a lot to say, orthodox Jews don't have to serve in the army, people are divided by their religion (like Israel's divide et impera politics towards druses), the importance of religion when it comes to immigration etc

Since when is Soqotra particularly irreligious?

Turkmenistan is essentially a theocracy these days, with Niyazov as God Emperor.

Also, I'm not sure if eastern Turkey (Kurds that is) s necessarily the most religious. There are a lot of yesides in the east, and more importantly alevites, which - as far as I know - are more secular than sunnis. But I recall one Turkish election map and religious part won everywhere but Thrace and coastlines...
Anyway, the city that I heard is the most pius is Konya, and it's in the centre.

Are there supposed to be markings on that map? I assumed Az was saying that the entire map was a bible belt, but Ludd's comment at least doesn't make sense with that.

Do You see that great black cover over half of the map?

No I don't. It's not there for me.

I'll post an SS in a second.

It probably has something to do with the image cache. Though why I would have that image cached, I don't know...

                              This is glorious.

I've mistakenly posted the unedited map, but quickly fixed it. Probably a server messup.

That's why a large chunk of Israel is black. But you can hardly say that the parts that are not coloured really are.

Man, you guys are slow. Notice how I didn't colour all of turkey?

The most religious are probably Poland, Portugal, Ireland and Malta. Maybe some of those crazy Balkan states too, but I don't know much about them.
Finland and Czech don't belong in that belt IMO, they are maybe among the least religious countries.
